Huawei’s first new Leica phone camera road

By | August 21, 2018

Despite the limited physical size of the smartphone, the picture quality of the photo taken by the phone’s camera has improved dramatically over the years. Indeed, the advanced processing capabilities allow modern smartphone packs to reach closer to the entry-level SLR images in terms of their photographic quality and the users leave their portable digital cameras at home.

Start a relationship

Recently, for the development of smartphone photography, Huawei and camera maker Leica were a milestone in the joint announcement of a long-term technology partnership, which saw some smartphones as legitimate, so that casual users had significant replacements for digital cameras. Importantly, it marks an exit from an uninterrupted and pointless nation in camera specifications for improvement in improving the quality of the photograph.

I’m not at least a camera expert, but it became clear to me that Leica represents a legendary brand for photography enthusiasts. The company’s Ur-lyika standard movie was the world’s first camera to use 35mm film and which was working as the basis of widely-copied Leica Screw Mount Rangefinder Cameras by other camera makers. And the rest, history.

A less well known factory: Huawei first contacted Leica for possible collaboration at the end of 2013, but in the summer of 2014, only the Leica headquarters agreed to the primary meeting. Why is the 120-year-old company changed suddenly?

It turned out that Leica was thinking hard about the transfer of its expertise to the outstanding camera for a generation of users who were taking more photographs than ever before with the camera built in their smartphones. And the smartphone maker is a better partner than Hueyi, which has a similar emerging culture similar to the technology advancement.

Engineering from Leica Standards

The aim of the cooperation is to improve the smartphone experience for customers of Huawei smartphones through improved image quality. For a start, it’s a renewed focus on top smart optical designs and image quality, and implementation of Leica Standards to ensure consistent quality for each smartphone camera.

As part of the cooperation, experts from Leica use the company’s precise value for the control of ghosts and flares. Ghosting and flares stem from imperfections in bouncing off various lens components, and results in incoming lighting, and lenses. Leica’s input uses a “ultimate” test light source, which is usually used to release ghosting and flares flaws, compared to dozens of brilliant dozen.

Another example of high quality taken by Leica will be in the form of color rendering. Where a standard standard call for a proper rendering of dynamic color blocks, the sticker values are mandatory for correct rendering for 140 color blocks. It has set up a very high need for post processing, and it needs to support smartphone components and algorithms.

Exceptional attention on the value does not come at a cost, but eventually one was overcome by persistent engineering. From the initial yield of less than 10 usable lenses modules, it was ready for mass production for Huawei P9. As a result of the same test standards used for leeka lenses, used in mobile phone lenses, the result is a perfect leica lens that works according to the company’s standard – finally you see the results of the Matte 10 Pro.

If there is one real result of this obsessive emphasis on quality, highlighting the experience of difference photography will be someone else other than the Leica Dual-Camera Waterproof Popularity. As you can expect, this was copied by many phone makers – you are about to be the sincerest form of what they say about imitation
